How long does the JustTeak Teak Sealer last? Can I overcoat an existing layer of sealer?
This depends on environmental conditions and usage. For exposed outdoor usage, you can expect between 6 to 8 months of beautiful surface colour and strong moisture + UV protection. For covered outdoor usage, you can expect 12+ months.
Over time the sealer will start to lose its lustre and water beading capability. A fresh coat of JustTeak Teak Sealer should be applied to restore the finish.
For best results remove the Teak Sealer with JustTeak Cleaner and Brightener and reapply.
What is the difference between Natural and ClearTone shades of JustTeak Teak Sealer?
The difference between the Natural and Cleartone is indeed the level of pigmentation, leading to a difference in colour.
The Natural will last longer when exposed to the environment and greatly prolong the time until graying and discolouring.
It’s a unique penetrating sealer so you’ll find unlike other sealers it will not wear off as easily through foot traffic.

Can JustTeak Sealer be used on indoor table settings and decking?
Yes it can. It’s absolutely safe for indoor tables, flooring and other pieces. It is also applied to many of the large indoor/outdoor areas of larger superyachts. However we suggest application of our sealer outside or in a very well ventilated area.
Will JustTeak products affect my vinyl boat wrap?
JustTeak Cleaner and Brightener are safe for all external protective marine boat wrap films (such as 3M Vinyl Boat Films and Wraps). They will not damage the wraps as long as surfaces are rinsed immediately after application with fresh water.
Are JustTeak Teak Cleaner, brightener and sealer safe for contact with fiberglass? Will it dull or stain?
Being a marine product, the products are safe for fibreglass when used as instructed. The most important thing with the Cleaner and Brightener is to not let it dry on the surface of the boat. For large areas you will need to do 1 section at a time.
The sealer will not damage fibreglass. However, it is best to tape off any areas that may get sealer on them in order to make clean up easier.
How can I apply the JustTeak Range and how much do I need?
Check out our application guide page here for application and coverage.
How many coats of JustTeak Teak Sealer do I need to apply?
Apply 2-3 coats. Saturate the surface and wipe off the excess. The first coat will penetrate, the next 2 coats will penetrate less.
How is JustTeak Teak Sealer different from teak oil and varnish?
There are numerous differences between JustTeak Teak Sealer and Teak Oils, paints and varnishes.
JustTeak Teak Sealer incorporates much newer technology that penetrates the surface, bonding to and stabilising the teak; giving strong protection against the weathering effects of UV radiation, sunlight, pollution and salt water, JustTeak Teak Sealer does not need to be reapplied as often as oil. Once applied, JustTeak Teak Sealer will coat your teak without leaving a heavy continuous film on the wood surface like a varnish or paint. Varnishes and paints provide better protection compared to teak oil, but can be difficult to apply, maintain and disguises the natural textures of the teak surface.
By contrast, teak oil has been used on boats and teak wood furniture for 100’s of years but leaves an inferior surface finish and does not last anywhere near as long. Teak oils are usually made of linseed oil with extra additives mixed in, the oil soaks into the wood and accentuates the grain and colour but it is very high maintenance.
Further, teak oil does not protect the wood, but it merely recovers the rich appearance that teak wood can offer. This method requires multiple coats of oil and the finish does not last long, with sunlight and UV rays damaging the oils, turning the wood finish dark and grey over time.
Sealers are different from oils because they do not add more oils or resins. Instead, they seal in the natural oils and resins that the existing wood contains while at the same time preventing contaminants and moisture from invading and harming it.
Is the JustTeak Cleaner and Brightener safe to rinse off into the ocean?
Yes. The JustTeak Cleaner and Brightener meets the 2018 Guidelines within Annex V of MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships): Cleaning agents and additives in deck and external surfaces wash water. Therefore, they are Non-hazardous to the marine environment.
